Bowflex TC5000 vs TC3000 Review

When it comes to fitness equipment Bowflex comes to many people’s minds.  Bowflex is well known for their patented home fitness gyms that use resistance bows instead of steel plates for workout machines.  Bowflex has since expanded to making their latest in fitness equipment, the Treadclimber.  The Treadclimber has continued to make strides in revolutionizing the way people work out by combining a treadmill, elliptical, and stair climber in a single unit.  This comparison review will examine Bowflex’s TC3000 and TC5000 Treadclimber models and how they stack up against each other.

Bowflex TC3000

First up is the TC3000 Treadclimber.  The main premise behind the Treadclimber series is that you can reduce time you spend working out by burning more calories in a shorter amount of time with less stress on your joints.  The TC3000 model is Bowflex’s mid-level model in their Treadclimber series.  While it is listed as mid-level, the TC3000 still offers a large array of electronics and features to help you push your work out to a whole other level.  Whether you are a professional or semiprofessional athlete, or just want to start getting in shape in the comfort of your own home this is a great piece of equipment to start with.

Features:

  • Max speed: 0.7 – 4.0 MPH/1.1 – 6.4 KPH
  • 12 Resistance levels
  • Speed, distance, time, calories burned per minute, total calories, and total steps counter
  • Ergonomic console provides easy accessibility to water bottles, books, magazines, iPods, etc.
  • 46” long by 28.5” wide by 55.25” tall
  • 185 pounds assembled weight
  • 300 pounds maximum user capacity
  • 5 LCD readout windows
  • Warranty: 3 years for motor, 2 years for electronics, 1 year for hydraulics

Overall, the TC3000 is a great value for the price.  You can burn more calories using the Treadclimber than using a standard elliptical machine, treadmill, or stair climber alone.  The warranty is excellent in case anything went wrong with the way the machine functions.

Bowflex TC5000

Up next is the Treadclimber TC5000 model by Bowflex.  Slightly different from the TC3000 model, this one offers a few more features which we will examine and provide a recommendation for which model may offer a better value for your needs.  The TC5000 is also designed for private home use for those looking to lose weight, get in shape, or stay in shape.  The Treadclimber is excellent for people with joint pain or joint issues and wish to find a low impact way to tackle their daily cardio workout.  The 12 intensity settings allow you to customize your workout to fit your specific fitness and comfort level from beginners to extreme athletes.

Features:

  • Max speed: 0.7 – 4.0 MPH/1.1 to 6.4 KPH
  • 12 resistance levels
  • Speed, distance, total steps, time, calories burned per minute, total calories burned, climb indicator, and heart rate electronic functions
  • Wireless heart rate monitor display that shows your heart rate at a glance for optimal fat burning
  • Computer indictor shows calories per minute and total calories burned
  • Quick start feature remembers the weight of the last user and resistance settings
  • Ergonomic console provides easy accessibility to water bottles, magazines, iPods, etc.
  • Climb indicator visually tracks your elevation gain in feet
  • 46” long by 30” wide by 55.25” tall
  • 185 pounds assembled weight
  • 300 pounds maximum user capacity
  • Calorie burn calculations are based on body weight and intensity inputs
  • Large footboards along tread belts allow for safe and easy starting and stopping

The features available with the TC5000 Treadclimber makes this model a great value for those interested in more specific calculations than the TC3000 model.  The large LCD screen allows you to track speed, distance, calories burned, total calories, climb indicator, and heart rate which provides all the information you need to know to understand the intensity of your workout so you can adjust accordingly.

Recommendation

Both the TC3000 and TC5000 Treadclimber models offer a great way to exercise.  The TC5000 offers a wireless heart rate monitor as well as additional electronic functions climb indicator and heart rate which the TC3000 does not offer.  Overall, they are both great models which provide exceptional value.  If you find comparable pricing for both models the TC5000 is the more improved version of the Bowflex Treadclimber.
