Sole Fitness E25 Elliptical Machine

This is the base model of the SOLE elliptical trainer lineup. The maximum weight it can support is 350 pounds. If you need a higher capacity, check out the other models described below.

What makes any SOLE elliptical worth buying? First off, SOLE says that their articulated foot pedals slope two degrees inward to minimize ankle and knee stress. The pedals are 15 inches long, large enough to accommodate a size 15 men’s shoe with plenty of room to spare. If you adjust the incline, the E25 changes the stride length between 20 and 22 inches.

The user can change the amount of resistance through 20 levelsof difficulty. The LCD display has ten pre-set programs: six standard workouts, two heart rate programs, and two custom programs. There are two handles that move with the user’s stride for an upper body workout. The two fixed handles have pulse rate monitors built into them. There’s also a chest strap with a heart rate monitor included with the elliptical, but it’s optional to use.

The front of the machine has speakers for listening to music and a fan to cool the user. Just below the display there’s a water bottle holder. It doubles as a place to put a phone or mp3 player if the user plugs their device into the audio port. Some users have complained that they must choose to place either their water bottle or device because there’s not a place for both things. If the device or bottle is large it blocks the view of the display.

A couple of things to keep in mind with these elliptical machines are that they usually require assembly and are quite heavy. The E25 is the lightest of these four models at 189 pounds.

The E35 Elliptical has a few differences from the E25. It can support user weight up to 375 pounds. The machine itself weighs more at 215 pounds and is larger in size by a few inches. The flywheel is 29 pounds. The moving handlebars have two different grip handles instead of the simple single handles on the E25 and E55. This gives the user more grip positions. The LCD display is larger at 7.5 inches. Finally, the warranty has longer coverage for both parts and labor than what the E25 has.

The other features of the elliptical are the same. The articulated foot pedals slope two degrees inward to minimize ankle and knee stress. The E55 Elliptical has the samemaximum user weight capacity as the E35 at 375 pounds. On the down side, the user stride length is limited to 20 inches, unlike any of the other three models. First, the foot pedal angle is now easy to adjust with a dial. Second, the LCD display is larger at 9 inches.

Other than these two improvements, the E55 includes the same features as the other elliptical models. The foot pedals are articulated and slope 2 degrees inward to reduce ankle and knee stress. There are two handles on each handlebarjust like on the E35. This gives the user various grip positions. The incline and resistance controls are integrated right into the handlebars, too. The LCD display measures 9 inches just like on the E55. The stride is adjustable between 20 and 22 inches like on the E25 and the E35. • The elliptical needs an AC power source (i.e. wall outlet) to run
  • SOLE offers a lifetime warranty on the frame, 5-year warranty on the electronics and moving parts, and 2 years on labor

Recommendation

There is simple way to start narrowing down which model to choose: user weight capacity. Anyone under 350 pounds can choose any of the four models. The E35 and E55 are made for someone weighing over 350 but under 375 pounds. The E95 is made for a person weighing between 375 and 400 pounds.

Another way to narrow it down between models is stride length. If you’d prefer the whole range of 20-22 inches, any model except the E55 will work for you.

If the size of the LCD display matters, the E25 has the smallest at 6.5 inches, with the size increasing up to 7.5 inches on the E35, then the E55 and E95 at 9 inches each.

If you’d prefer the convenience of a dial to change the heel-to-toe angle of the foot pedals, the E55 and E95 have this feature.

Finally, the E95 has the most convenient design because of the controls integrated into the ergonomically-molded handlebars.
